Bounded field experiments in territorial protocolization

A Challenge is an applied research module focused on protocolizing a single procedure within a territory. A multidisciplinary Liminal team and a group of partners identify the leverage points they are positioned to press upon and whose potential scales beyond the place itself. They then set out to protocolize the highest-order procedure within their reach. Work begins with a preliminary product that acts as a boundary object with the relevant local actors, then proceeds on site through recursive cycles of engagement, independent observation and collaborative iteration. A Challenge leaves a territory having protocolized one of its procedures, set in motion a way of measuring its real impact over time, and identified the further opportunities this first protocolization has opened up. Documentation of the process builds up the experimental body of knowledge of Territorial State Craft, and becomes the point of departure for protocol sets ready for territorial transfer.
